5th Grade Mission Statement

The mission of the teachers of the 5th grade is for students to acquire preparation needed to meet all California Content Standards.  Our goal is to use data to drive education.  We use data analysis to improve student learning and improve instruction.  AS a grade level, we meet meet in Professional Learning Communities on a weekly basis.  We discuss strategies for student success and work cooperatively to better taching methods.  Students are enrolled in the following programs:

Math

All studetns learn the 5th grade curriculum consisting of Soctt Foresman Math and Excel Math.

Language Arts

Students that are "on grde level" are enrolled in Open Court Reading.  Students that are Below Basic or Far Below Basic are enrollled in Language!, which is a stand alone intervention program.
