MCFARLAND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The Language Arts department consists of 13 teachers who teach one or more of the following Language Arts programs:

Treasures- this is a core Language Arts class for students in 6th grade who scores Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, or Advanced on the California Standardized Test.

Holt Language Arts – this is a core Language class for students in 7th and 8th grade who scored Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced on the California Standardized Test.

Inside – this is a stand-alone intervention class for students who scored Far Below Basic on the California Standardized Test.

MMS Language Arts teachers participate in weekly professional development teams where they collaborate, as a department, to create effective instruction strategies and lessons.

 MMS is fortunate to have a Reading Coach this year. Mrs. Sneed will be utilizing her time by supporting the Language Arts teachers.  Her goal is to assist each teacher to help encourage best teaching practices and ultimately the success of our students academically.
