   The McFarland Unified School District invites prospective classroom teachers to apply for employment with the school district. The district serves approximately 3,340 students. A new middle school was constructed in August 1997. Modernization projects are underway to provide a better atmosphere for teachers and students. While most students live in McFarland, some are transported daily from the surrounding countryside.
   The McFarland Unified School District is a basic skills district where reading, writing, mathematics and responsibility comprise the foundation for the educational program. A wide variety of regular and special programs are provided for students who are often recognized for outstanding achievements in vocal and instrumental music, art, drama, language, and athletics through the county and state.
   Teachers are provided with numerous opportunities for staff development related to school district goals as well as professional development for the individual teacher. There is a liberal salary incentive for teachers who take additional academic and professional education courses throughout their career with the school district.
   The McFarland Unified School District's primary goal is to provide a broad-based academic curriculum for all grades, kindergarten through twelfth grade. McFarland Unified School District strives to enhance a positive and creative atmosphere for in-service training, develop effective teaching strategies, improve home-school communication, and instill a sense of community within the district.
